Georgia Tech Volleyball is the women’s volleyball program of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. The team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and has been a competitive force nationally and internationally.

History of Georgia Tech Volleyball

The Georgia Tech Volleyball program began in 1975, with Linda Dillinger serving as the first head coach. Over the years, the program has evolved into a competitive and respected team in the ACC and nationally. The team has made 18 NCAA Tournament entrances and reached the Sweet Sixteen twice. The program has also produced several All-Americans and ACC award winners.

Georgia Tech’s women’s volleyball team competes at the NCAA Division I level as an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) member. The team is known as the Yellow Jackets and has a long history of success in the sport.

The Yellow Jackets started playing volleyball in 1975 and have since become consistent in the national rankings. They have made 18 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, with their best finish being a trip to the Final Four in 2003. The team has also won six ACC Championships, with the most recent coming in 2018.

The team plays its home matches at O’Keefe Gymnasium, with a seating capacity of 1,600 spectators. The head coach of the Yellow Jackets is Michelle Collier, who took over the program in 2015. Under Collier’s leadership, the team has remained competitive in the ACC and nationally.

The Georgia Tech volleyball program has produced many talented players, including several who have played professionally in the United States and abroad. The team also prides itself on academic excellence, with many players earning All-ACC Academic honors and several termed to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

The current head coach of Georgia Tech Volleyball is Michelle Collier. Collier has been with the program since 2013, leading the team to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. Moreover under her leadership, the program has continued to grow and improve.

The Georgia Tech Volleyball team consists of talented student-athletes from all over the United States and the world. The team has a mix of experienced upperclassmen and promising first-year students. The players come from various backgrounds and playing styles, creating an exciting and dynamic team.

Facilities:

The Georgia Tech Volleyball team plays their home matches at O’Keefe Gymnasium on the Georgia Tech campus. The gymnasium has a seating capacity of 1,700 and provides an excellent game atmosphere. The team can access state-of-the-art training facilities, including weight rooms, practice courts, and athletic training rooms.

Conference:

The Georgia Tech Volleyball team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The ACC is one of the most competitive volleyball conferences in the country and includes other top-ranked programs such as Louisville, Pitt, and Notre Dame. The team faces a challenging conference schedule each year, which prepares them for postseason play.

Achievements

The team has had many achievements over the years. It has won multiple ACC championships, including back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. The team has also made 18 NCAA Tournament appearances and has reached the Sweet Sixteen twice. The program has produced several All-Americans and ACC award winners, including Monique Mead, named ACC Player of the Year in 2012.

Community Involvement:

The Georgia Tech Volleyball team is involved in various community service projects yearly. The group volunteers at local schools, hospitals, and charities. The team also hosts camps and clinics for young volleyball players, which helps to grow the sport and also inspire future Yellow Jackets.
